Archives for Tub Things

Since earlier posting about the Deep Water Bath Plug, I’ve been on the hunt for a companion drain clog screen for the tub.

The simple metal screen ones are easy …

Alrighty, I admit I’m a little skeptical about this bathmat. I’ve run into quite a few bath mats before that claimed to be truly absorbant. However, this bath mat claims to …

Bath Tub Safety Grip

January 14, 2008

OK I know this might seem like a gimmick, and it’s probably featured on those “As Seen On TV” type commericals. Still, I think they’ve on the right track. So I wouldn’t count it out, especially for the elderly or disabled. The idea is a simple rubber grip handle that has strong suction cups that you can stick onto a bathtub wall for an instant handle.

H2O Bath Pillow

January 22, 2007

The idea with this bath pillow is similar to the Jelly Bean Bath Pillow we talked about earlier, except this one is inflatable. This one is made by H2O, and as I said before I’m not such a big fan with the inflatable bedding or bath items. In particular, I can’t stand the inflatable beds offered… these ALWAYS seem to leak air and make turning over in your sleep a difficult and noisy situation.

Jelly Bean Bath Pillow

December 11, 2006

You’ve just drawn a nice warm bath and now you’re all set to commence relaxing. But wait - you’ve got a standard tub (like I do) with a hard porcelain back. It doesn’t matter that it’s somewhat sloped for convenience. You need a place to put your head!

That’s why I’ve been looking for something like this Jelly Bean Bath Pillow. Actually, it looks more like a kidney bean pillow to me, and it’s white vinyl over urethane foam. I actually like that better than the “blow-up” type pillows which are too wobbly to me.

Deep Water Bath Plug

November 27, 2006

I saw this bath gadget on Amazon the other day and was intrigued. Most baths have some sort of overflow “safety” drain or hole that is located on the top of the lever that stops your drain when pulled up. Now, while this IS good for safety, it is horrible for getting the water level of your bath tub anywhere near full.

In order to combat this, I’ve previously tried to caulk the holes shut with plastic water seal that comes in a tube. While semi-effective, there are times when you actually WANT the overflow drain. So this Deep Water Bath Plug looks like it might be great for the purpose of temporarily plugging up the holes. It’s basically just a piece of 4″ diameter vinyl with suction cups that fits over the drain hole.
