Broan 679 Bath Fan Light

December 1, 2006

Bath Time at Bloglander Broan FanWhat I like about this Bathroom Fan-Light from Broan is its low profile which still has adequate surface area for vent intakes. This is a compact 100 watt fan plus light that’s very unobstrusive. If you’ve had problems with mold and mildew inside and around the tub, then you might want to consider using a fan like this. It moves 70 cubic feet of air/minute, providing adequate ventilation for your bathroom. There are a lot of other models to choose from if this look isn’t to your liking. This model is nearly square, about a foot on each side and extends down about 9 inches.

Deep Water Bath Plug

November 27, 2006

Bath Time at Bloglander - Bath Drain PlugI saw this bath gadget on Amazon the other day and was intrigued. Most baths have some sort of overflow “safety” drain or hole that is located on the top of the lever that stops your drain when pulled up. Now, while this IS good for safety, it is horrible for getting the water level of your bath tub anywhere near full.

In order to combat this, I’ve previously tried to caulk the holes shut with plastic water seal that comes in a tube. While semi-effective, there are times when you actually WANT the overflow drain. So this Deep Water Bath Plug looks like it might be great for the purpose of temporarily plugging up the holes. It’s basically just a piece of 4″ diameter vinyl with suction cups that fits over the drain hole.

Avon Soap on a Rope

November 25, 2006

Bath Time - Avon Soap On A RopeDon’t lie. I know you drop your bath soap all the time, even at home. How do you fix that? Well, it’s the classic Soap On A Rope, good for more than just camping trips.

You could bust out the drill and make a hole in a normal bar of soap. But what’s nice about these soaps (for me anyhow) is that they’re “guy” scented soaps. Three different ones are available, including Mesmerize (spices, myrrh, mandarin orange and other woods), Wild Country (bergamot, anise, coriander) and Black Suede (amber, musk and other woods).

Avon Soap On A Rope - $3.49

Wamsutta Centennial Bath Rug

November 22, 2006

Bath Time WamsuttaSometimes you just want a plain and simple bath rug - something to wipe your feet and stop water from flooding all over the place. These Wamsutta Centennial rugs seem to fit the bill. They’re 17 by 24 bathroom rugs, with a latex skid proof backing. This one is in “Deep Fern” color, but they have a ton of other colors like Colonial Blue, Sunlight, Ivory, Violet and Ice Blue.

T For Toes Dusting Powder

November 20, 2006

T For Toes DustingOk, so why would you want to season yourself with what looks like a canister of poultry seasoning? T For Toes Dusting Powder by LUSH is meant to absorb all those funky foot odors that seem to creep up on your toes when left unchecked. If you have problems with your feet sweating or getting overly pungent then you can sprinkle a little of this on after coming out of the bath.

Of course, you could just use Baby Powder. But T For Toes has tea tree oil and essences of lime to further help neutralize foot odor, as well as herbs like broom and horsetail to help out with the sweating.

Sounds like it might be useful. But I still find it funny that it looks like a poultry seasoning can…

Cylinder Terry Bath Pillow

November 19, 2006

Bath Time at Bloglander - Cylinder Bath PillowIf you’re really into relaxing in the tub (and let’s face it, who isn’t?) then you might be interested in this Cylindrical Bath Pillow with soft terry cover. What’s nice is that the cover of this small pillow is removable so that you can wash it, and also features 2 suction cups that help keep the pillow in place behind your head. This probably would go great in a whirlpool tub, though it’d be fine in a standard tub as well.

Sea Vegetable Soap

November 13, 2006

Sea Vegetable SoapI’m always amazed at the huge variety of bath soap out there. Gone are the days of the standard white rounded bars of soap to wash with. Now you can get your pick of different textures, colors, scents and shapes.

Here’s an example of some interesting soap from Lush. This bar chunk of Sea Vegetable Soap looks more like turquoise or marble than soap. I’m actually interested in this one because its a bit less “girly” than some of their other offerings. It features natural sea salt and seaweed as extra softening and cleansing agents, and is fragranced with lime, lavender and pine. It sounds pretty refreshing. Unlike a lot of other soaps that are mostly homogenous blends, the soap is mixed in a rustic fashion so that you get parts of the soap that have more of the salt and seaweed in it.

WaterPik Showerhead Massager

November 13, 2006

WaterPik ShowerheadEver been annoyed at having to rotate your body in awkward positions to get some good spray from your current shower head? You might like this WaterPik Showerhead then. It’s a handheld version with six settings designed to be a “water-saver”, but can be “converted” to a normal showerhead by removing certain parts from the assembly.

The six settings include a full body spray, concentrated and water saver center sprays, combo full body/center spray, massaging pulse spray and combo pulse/full body spray. It comes along with the connector hose as well as a mounting assembly to hang the hose and showerhead. I’ve been interested in getting a handheld model like this… however, one issue for me is that this is just one more item in the tub to maintain and keep clean.

Wood Soap Dishes

November 10, 2006

Bath Time at Bloglander - wood soap dishesIf you’ve spent any amount of time in the tub or shower, you know how important it is to keep your soaps out of the water… otherwise they simply melt away! This is especially true for the cheaper soaps which seem to disappear down the drain. Many tubs have soap holders built in, and showers have built in wall caddy’s to keep your soap from turning into muck.

But if you don’t happen to have one, you might be interested in these simple wooden soap dish holders that have slats across the bottom to keep your soap out of any water puddling around it. These are made by Ebubbles and come in two sizes 4 inches by 3.5 and 6 inches by 4.

Wood Soap Dishes - $2.50 - $3.50
