Bath Time at Bloglander - Royal Heritage TowelsI’m not normally one to notice when things go on sale, but I saw this 6 piece Royal Heritage Egyptian towel set on Amazon the other day for a huge discount of $130 to $29. The ones shown are a steel blue color called “Bluestone”, but they also come in various colors including Cream, Terra-cotta and Pale Green. The set includes 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels and 2 washcloths.

However, reading the reviews on these towels, it seems you sometimes get what you pay for. Several people noted that there’s issues on quality control because the ends of the towels tend to fray and become unravelled. They also seem to have some blotchy color loss issues when certain types of detergent have been used.

But the number one complaint seems to be the absorbancy issue. They just don’t seem to soak up water like bath towels are supposed to, however fluffy and plush they look. I was wondering of the people who complained, how many actually washed the towels several times first, since I know that it can sometimes take at least a couple spins before towels like this gain absorbancy. I also wonder about the use of softeners in the wash, since that tends to have a negative effect on cotton towel absorbency.
