Man, Burger King really brought it when they decided to make this breakfast item. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a crazy looking fast food sandwich, it has just about everything in it that your average Meatasaurus would want to chow down on. It is just enormous, sort of reminds me when Carl’s Junior first came out with the Western Bacon Cheeseburger. I just couldn’t believe you could put hamburger, bacon and onion rings together. Is that, like TWO layers of scrambled egg loaf surrounding the meats? Makes me salivate a bit, I’d really like to try it when it comes out.
The No. 2 fast food chain debuted its Enormous Omelet Sandwich Monday. The sandwich has one sausage patty, two eggs, two American cheese slices and three strips of bacon … That works out to 730 calories and 47 grams of fat — more than a Whopper sandwich, which the Burger King Web site said has 700 calories and 42 grams of fat.
I can probably make something like that at home for about $1.00, and chances are that it wouldn’t take that long AND I’d have all the ingredients readily on hand. At a suggested retail price of $2.99, this is far from idea Cheap Eats. But the fact that includes all those items inside and all those calories gives me pause. You could theoretically just eat this monster for an early lunch. I would really like to see how large it actually is, because we all know about “sandwich shrinkage” that’s been going on for decades. Burger King’s Chicken Sandwiches used to be amazing deals… until they shrunk them to nearly half the size. I don’t expect this to be any different. Though I’m so tired of the diet nutsos out there so I’d be willing to give it a slight benefit of the doubt, if only because they’re bucking the healthy trend.
Cheap Eats Score: 4/10
