your cats like onions?! ours stays away from anything onion, in fact if there is some food like chicken or scrambled and it has been cooked with just barest hint of onion he will turn his nose up at it. finicky cat...

i haven't had good luck with basil plants previously, but maybe i will try get a small pot again.

who said i had the garden. it's in a pot over the kitchen sink. i've seen the cats take nibbles, but i don't think they like the spiciness of basil. they do like onions. i no longer have any green onions because of them.

kristina - glad to hear that! I know there are some better recipes out there, and some folks have probably put a lot more thinking into it. This one is a sort of quick and unrefined approach. But we like it because it is light. One other variety that we do is if you have some shelled shrimp, you can marinate the shrimp in a few tsp of kosher salt and water for 10-15 minutes and then put them on a grill pan (if you have one w/ ridges that works really well) for about 5 minutes or until done. Then just add it around the plate of the finished pasta... pretty yummy if you like seafood.

Lucky you that there is basil plant in your garden! =)

I tried the recipe last night, just like you suggested. It was delicious. So simple. So delicious. We have a basil plant just growing crazy and needed to be trimmed.

Thanks,
