3/25/06 | A Cheap Eats Redesign
[ Currently Eating: Leftover Lasagna ]
Hi there fellow Cheap Eaters. Well, the old timers will probably have noticed by now that the Cheap Eats site looks a bit different. I’ve been wanting to redesign the site for months. And now that I got all excited about that a couple of weeks ago, I’ve been dealing with these shoulder issues. That’s been preventing me from working on the site and writing about cheap food.
However, you know the old “play through the pain” saying that sports coaches like to drill into their players heads? Yes, hello. Ouch.
But I’m not stupid. I’m taking it slow, which is why it has taken so long to put up this first redesign. I say “first”, because you can expect further changes to popup along the way as I’m able to get to them. I’m actually also hoping to introduce a new feature or two, but it all depends.
So for now, let us bid a fond farewell to the Cheap Eats mascott that has been the header graphic for over a year now. Bye, bye bangers ‘n mash (approximately $2.00 to make), but we need to make room for other cheap eats like the new header graphic which is Mexican food leftovers. Gotta love those leftovers.

Woo hoo! Site redesign! I need to do one of those. But I’ve got no design skillz.

I like the new look and the organization of your sidebars. Keep up the good work and I hope your shoulder feels better. I found that yoga ended up curing my 18 years of back/neck pain and arm tingling/spasms.

marvo – hey, i like Impulsive Buy’s design! I especially like the semi-new “This review is brought to you buy” side notes…
tanya – thanks! I very much like your template on iateapie!
bevbear – thanks for the nice words, the shoulder is better today. Let’s hope this continues so i can make more posts!
cybele – I actually just got a yoga tape. Now I just need a leotard. hehe, just kiddin. I actually need to get a yoga mat. I’ve switched computers… I believe using the non-ergonomic Powerbook laptop was at the root of some of the problems. Though, it also didn’t help that we’ve been building a new room in our house… from scratch. Drilling and putting up drywall did a number on my shoulder health.

Usually, I don’t notice site redesigns, since I almost exclusively read most blogs through the RSS feed. However, (grumble grumble grumble), this one doesn’t give me full entries on bloglines. So, I’m forced to come here. Any chance of that changing?
Anyway, I do want to say that usually the food photography is top notch on this site. So there you go.

BF – hey how’s it… thanks for the photo shoutout. Although there are so many other sites that take way more kick-ass photos. I like to blame everything on my ancient 3 megapixel camera…
Well, I had switched the feed to summarize early on because there were a few unsavory “aggregator” type sites that were just taking various feeds, mixing them, and calling it their own content. I didn’t like that. So… I think you’ll still have to come visit for now. =)
