2/27/08 | Free McSkillet Burritos
[ Currently Eating: Green Chile Enchilada ]
OK, so you don’t see this too often: two Cheap Eats posts in one day. But I just wanted to let people know about the Free McSkillet Burrito promotion that is planned for tomorrow and Friday (Feb. 28-29). It’s not completely free - of course. You have to buy a medium or large drink. But if you were thinking of trying it out, this might be the time to do it. To be honest, I’ve been eyeing this burrito and thinking of getting it. I might just venture out on Friday morning and give it a go.
More details are on the McDonalds website.
By the way, because I’m doing two posts today, I’ll probably skip next week’s usual long post because I’ve got a ton of other work to do…

Hey! Let us know what you thought of the burrito. I normally stay very far away from fast food places but one weekend I was on the road and hungry and rushed and I tried one. It seemed edible but I wouldn’t buy it again. I think it was the potatoes in the wrap. They were mushy and tasteless. I may try it again during this promotion just to see if it was new product weirdness with the cook that day or something.
Now, if I am going to splurge on calories for a fast food breakfast, I’d hit up Sonic’s burritos over McD’s any day. ;D

lola - I would LOVE to try out Sonic. They play their damn commercials so much (them and Ruby Tuesday), but the nearest one is all the way in Anaheim for me. I’m in LA so that’s a hike. I’ve no idea why they refuse to open up shop in Los Angeles…

I agree with Lola-
It looks good and in theory sounds good, but it didn’t taste that great. And it was because of the potatoes. They taste reheated and a little “off”. If they left them out it would be MUCH better. The sausage needs to be in smaller pieces too. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d give it a 2.8
Their breakfast egg and sausage burritos are much better.

I agree that the potatoes were the downfall. More upsetting than that was the fact that I knew they would be, but was told I could not order without the potatoes, as the burritos were premixed. ew.
I will also agree that sonic’s breakfast burritos are much much better. Plus, at sonic you can get a cheeseburger at 6am, and there is nothing to cure a hangover quite like a burger for breakfast.

I actually missed getting one for free this Friday. But so far it seems everyone’s in agreement that the potatoes in the burrito were less than stellar. I would really like to try Sonic, just to see what it’s like. How much is a Sonic breakfast burrito?

I think it is around two dollars. dont really remember, sonic is a long drive for me too. They have a bigger variety to choose from, including the standard egg/cheese/sausage or bacon burrito, or the super sonic burrito that has sausage, jalepenos, eggs, tomatoes, cheese, and tater tots. Also on the breakfast menu is the toaster breakfast sandwich option, which is also really good. that’s a little too heavy for me at breakfast time, but makes a good lunch or dinner if you don’t feel like a burger. and that is a long paragraph about sonic breakfast. My addiction to fast food has reached a new sadness level.
