Fun, fun, fun ’til your daddy takes the chili away.
I’m talking about the latest poll results, if I was your daddy, and you were the pimple faced teenager with the fast chili driving to the beach. Sorry, I had to take away your chili fun - the poll was just up for too long.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the progressive Texans and others out there for giving beans a chance. That’s all we’re saying, “Give Beans a Chance”. The real chili poll winner was: Beef AND Beans. I was pretty surprised at the response, if we are led to believe those constantly vigilant Chili Cooks that the Food Network loves to feature giving beans a bad name.
Yes, a full 44% of 996 respondents voted in favor of chili with both beef and beans. Huh. It appears that we CAN all get along.
In addition, 30% of respondents voted for chili with “whatever you want” in it. I fall into this camp - for me, chili has become a sort of slumgullion fusion stew of any type of meat plus appropriate spices and onions, carrots, celery, bell pepper, kidney beans, pinto beans, navy beans and garbanzo beans. I’ll stuff that chili up to the gills with goodies and let it hang out for a few days in the refrig. I’ll do the canned stuff once in awhile as well, but usually for reviews only.
Only 20% of repsondents were die hard Chili Meat-heads. I seriously thought this would go higher. Oh, and 6% picked “Yeee-Hah” which is another word for “The Response I Usually Throw In Just For Fun.”
OK, now it is time to get sad. Or mad. Or glad? The latest poll has to do with which company’s Fast Food Commercials you really hate. It’s not possible to list ALL the companies, of course. So go ahead and comment on this post if you feel really strongly about a company. For me, there’s one company’s commercials that I ABSOLUTELY CATEGORICALLY loathe - but I’ll save that post for a rant which I’ve been promising for over a year now.
As for which fast food company in the poll that I LIKE - well, it’s gotta be Jack In the Balpha. Uh, well it appears that after they recently changed their logo, I can’t say that anymore without you looking at me like I’m crazy. What’s that? You say I was already crazy?
Shut up and go eat your chili beans…

I’m surprised Taco Bell isn’t an option. Those “Fourthmeal” commericals were obnoxious, basically encouraging people to eat fast food right before they went to bed. And the “nacho drag” commercial that has been running constatly during March Madness is simply one of the five most annoying commercials I have ever seen.
But it’s your poll, so I will say Carl’s Jr. is hands down the worst of the 4. The chili commercial where the guy had it all over his face was horrific. The “fake restaurant” series is something that may have been clever 20 years ago (but probably not.) And the doctor who can’t stop thinking about bourbon is creepy and not at all funny.

@justin - I would’ve put taco bell if there were more options. For some reason i don’t see their commercials as much over here. I see El Pollo Loco much more frequently, which has their own annoying commercials. Also, I hate the new Subway “dancing” commercials. Would almost rather see Jared. FWIW, I agree completely w/ you about CJs - I could add a whole laundry list of complaints to yours, but I wanted to hear what everyone else says b4 I influence their votes =)

The guys shaking the cows? An almost naked Paris Hilton? The white guys rapping about “flat buns?” Or the guy who tells his superhot girlfriend they are going out for a steak dinner because he’s buying her a CJs steak sandwich?
Now that I think about it, I can’t think of a single CJs commercial that isn’t marketed towards not-too-bright 13 year old boys. (Of course, I was certainly one of them once.)

hmm, i can’t think of ONE McD’s or BK commercial at this moment…amazing.
I can picture a lot of people from McD’s team USA cups though. I know their quotes too…how sad.

‘Give me back that filet o fish, give me that fish” god I HATE that McDonald’s commercial! That mechanical voice, the whole stupid idea of it. And that’s one of those talking Billy Bass toys- last time I checked, Mcdonald’s doesn’t use bass for their fish. It also makes no sense! “What if it were you hanging up on this wall, if it were you in that sandwich you wouldn’t be laughing at all!” Well since it’s impossible to be both in the sandwich and hanging on the wall, this commercial just makes absolutely no sense. And the singing is terrible. And those two guys are stupid looking. GRR.

Carl’s Junior gets the lifetime award in the f***ed up commercial Hall of Fame. I don’t know if it’s just me, but any kind of sauce smeared all over someones face skeeves me out to the point of no return. As far as the whole “real chili has no beans” thing, I grew up in Louisiana and Texas, so I am beyond annoyed by that particular piece of narrow, bigoted, food-fascism. Cajuns eat their chili with beans, BTW, and real spicy.
