These crispy little rings are the best! I found them at Sams Club...bought one bag just to try them, loved the taste. Went back the next day and bought ten more bags. They finally sold out. Went back months later & they still didn't have them. That's the way Sams Club is...one day they have it...then they never have it again. You would think it would be profitable to stock items that always sell out. What are they thinking!!!

@richard - I haven't tried the real BK onion rings recently, but it would make sense in these health conscious times that they'd get rid of a lot of the oil. But I know what you mean about the greasy paper bag - old time cheap eats =)

@lorelei - apologies, but I threw away the bag so I don't know if they're gluten free. But I would guess no.

I used to enjoy those BK onion rings, then something happened. Low fat oils maybe ? That used to be so greasy they would soak through the bottle of the paper sack they served them in. Now as one comment mentioned, they're so dry you could use them in place of a paper towel. I loved my BK rings, I'd pick up a burger at BigBoy and then drive miles out of my way to get their rings. Now I skip the rings. If the snacks are like the stuff from the resturant, forget it !

@andrea - I haven't tried the Wise chips yet, I'll have to take a look for those!

@adam - you know, it's funny, but now that you mention it that's exactly what I remember about burger king onion rings. I remember the breading being sort of weird. This could be why I don't remember exactly what they were like, because I only got them a few times because they weren't any good. In any case, the onion ring snacks are actually a big improvement!

While I am a fan of many Burger King items (loves me a Whopper), the onion rings aren't exactly noteworthy when you get the real thing (they're awfully dry and grainy). I'm surprised someone thought that Burger King onion rings were such a marketing powerhouse that this would be an inducement to buy them.

My favorite onion ring snacks are the "onion flavored rings" by Wise Potato Chips. Those are some damn fine rings! I'll settle for Funyuns in a pinch though and especially since my preferred brand are very hard to find. Since Funyuns aren't so fun for you're health, Kettle Chips Sweet Onion are a better substitute. They taste awesome and when you still have onion breath in the morning, you know they are doing their job. ;)
