I love hot dogs sliced and put in my chili. Good with browned hamburger or in place of the burger. Then a can of stewed tomatoes, a can of chili beans, and a can of great northern beans (pureed), 1 envelope of chili seasoning, and a can of corn (drained). Its thick, hearty, and cheap. Tastes like a chili dog.

i don't care that this has nothing to do with the meal, but:
"These were the type of Jurassic-era trolls who used to hold me down on the playground and fart into my open mouth."

man, i lol'd at that for hours.

hours = about 30 seconds

the hot dog, ketchup and onion thing sounds really good, maybe with a little rice on the side. I love egg sandwiches. grew up eating them. sometimes we have breakfast foods for dinner since they are much cheaper.
I saw the actual dorian gray painting in the chicago art museum. It's really huge, in garish colors and so gross you can't take your eyes off it!
One of the local dishes here is simple fried rice, cold rice and whatever leftover bits of meat and veg you have, fry in a little oil, throw in a tbsp of shoyu(soy sauce) befre serving.maybe a dash of sesame oil too. really good and works great with SHORT grain brown rice as well. Long grain rices (brown or white) just aren't the same in a stir fry.

Skip the egg. Cut hot dogs lengthwise in half, and put in a pan with onions and ketchup. Cook long enough on medium heat that the onions bend easily. Dump on a plate, or between bread.

Sounds and looks gross, but one of the best comfort foods I know.

cheap to.

This story reminds me of my doubting younger days when I would watch my father fry baloney and make sandwiches with it.
He would also do as you describe with the hot dogs. I thought it was a Canadian thing.

But what kind of hot dogs were used? I hope they were some tasty Hebrew Nationals. And The Picture of Dorian Gray is one of the most frightening movies I've ever seen. Almost as horrific as getting farted on.
