7/14/10 | Bacon Wrapped Hot Dog
[ Currently Eating: Hot Weather, Hot Dogs ]
Um yes. A Bacon Wrapped Hot Dog.
I ate this while sitting in my underwear.
You know, how do you say, just because.
P.S. – this will be a new Cheap Eats category, where I just put up any old picture with minimal text. Just because.
Have a nice bacon wrapped day.

I love those things. Try frying one up till the bacon is done, cooling it a little, wrapping it with a slice of american cheese, then globbing some prepared bisquick batter around it and baking. Mmm, biscuit og.

@orchid – hehe, I probably won’t make this again – at least for a year or so. My arteries have ruled so…
@ratbuddy – whoa, I think you’ve got one up on me w/ the AmCheese. That sounds pretty good w/ the dog biscuit though. Uh, I mean biscuit dog! =)

i don’t really like hot dogs, but this makes me think of a recipe i haven’t made in a long while. take a pack of the mini sausages, cut some bacon in half, wrap 1/2 a strip of bacon around each sausage and put them in rows in a square baking dish. then sprinkle about 1/4 c. brown sugar over it all, and bake it until the bacon is as crispy as you like it.

I’m not kidding, they’re awesome. Sometimes I squeeze a little yellow mustard in there before baking too.
Also, Oscar Mayer makes these little mini hot dogs that come like 50 to a pack. You can wrap those in crescent roll dough or biscuit dough and bake ‘em up for cheap+easy snacks too.
Ahhhhhhh, I just started drooling!

I am saddened that it’s not in a bun and covered with mustard. I am also saddened that it’s not in my belly.

Wow, I haven’t had one of those for ages! I used to microwave mine and adhere the bacon to the hotdog with toothpicks. ratbuddy’s biscuit dog is genius. Unfortunately, I don’t eat hotdogs or bacon anymore…don’t have the stomach for it. Stupid stomach.

Wow I just made half a dozen last night and saw this post today! Weird. Do you grill, bake, or pan fry them??? Toothpicks to secure the ends of the bacon to the dog?? I use a grill pan and toothpicks broken in half myself. Served on a top split hot dog bun w/ half slice of cheese and a little BBQ sauce. Yum.

Talk about a childhood flash back. I use to eat these all the time after school as a kid. Also delicious way to eat these is wrap the bacon dog in the cresent rolls in the can bake it. Yummy!
