Tammy Powley from the Jewelry Making About.com site gives some initial ideas for selling your jewelry items through online auctions such as Ebay.

Selling Jewelry On-Line: Exploring Auction Sites

Hypothetically, it seems like a good way to get your jewelry pieces in front of a ton of people, seeing how big Ebay is. But selling stuff through extremely large auction houses can actually be a problem in that there are so many people selling the same or similar things that it’s often hard to get good prices. There is still a “bargain mentality” that goes along with a place like Ebay; people are less willing to pay average prices for things - they want bargains. I think higher end jewelry may sell decently, but the cheaper stuff may be difficult to move.

That said, I’ve never sold homemade jewelry on Ebay so your mileage may vary. I’ve heard from various people that it’s a good way to get your feet wet, especially if you don’t have the time or know-how to create a jewelry web site from scratch.
