I came across an article on the Jewelry Making About.com site (moderated by Tammy Powley) on Threader Earrings. Apparently, these are a hot topic for many jewelry makers. I had seen a few of these threader earrings (sometimes known as Earring Threads, Ear Threaders, Earthreads) in the latest Ring n Things catalog and was wondering what they were.

Threader Earrings

I’m thinking of investigating them a bit more. They are sort of interesting in that their functionality as earrings is exactly as the name implies; you actually thread them through your ear piercings. Most have some sort of metal bar or ball attached to a thin chain, and you just thread them through the whole. They seem to be about 3 to 5 inches in length usually. I think that some people make them longer, because of the possiblity of actually threading them through multiple piercings in your ear!

How does a threader earrings exactly look like?

It is basically an extremely thin chain attached to a metal bar threader post. You can see a picture on Tammy’s About.com Jewelry Making site.
