I held a little poll the past couple months that asked where people sell their jewelry. Here are the results that came in:

This actually seems to be pretty much on the mark. A majority of people sell their jewelry through some sort of online shop or perhaps through an online jewelry consignment site. I’d assume that a number also sell their jewelry through Ebay as well. It is just much easier in the beginning to “get your feet wet” by putting your handmade jewelry online, than hitting up boutiques locally around the area.

Although, smart jewelry designers probably take advantage of selling online AND offline. At least eventually. After setting up a online shop with some success you’re bound to try the local shops and maybe even spring for a table at a one day craft fair. This is something we’ve been meaning to do actually!

I think perhaps I shouldn’t have put “other” because it’s just too ambiguous… and quite a few people selected that choice which leads me to wonder what “Other” would actually be if it’s not consignment at a local shop or a craft fair. Would it be a tradeshow, or perhaps a “tupperware” type of jewelry party?

If you get a chance, try and answer the new poll, which asks what kind of beading wire you use for your designs. Beading wire is also known variously as jewelry cable, jewelry wire, bead stringing wire and also by its brand names such as Accuflex, Softflex, Tigertail, and Beadalon.
