OK, now you’ve solved the first part of the dilemma of attaching chain to a clasp. You should have a piece of chain wirewrapped to nothing at this point. Next, slide on one of your accent beads or crystals (small rice pearls are also a favorite of ours) onto the open end of the wire. Then continue with another starting wirewrap loop as in Figure 3a. The technique is basically the same as the wrap in the beginning of this article. Just remember - don’t close it up yet!

Next, you’ll want to insert the “closed loop” end of your clasp into the half-made wirewrap loop you’ve made. Look at Figure 3b to see what we’re talking about. Warning - I continually catch myself forgetting to put the clasp on before closing up the wirewrap! So you’ve gotta pay attention to what you’re doing. Sometimes, I’m watching TV and before I realize it I’ve closed up the loop and have to start all over from scratch.
