Zig Zag Earrings Fig 2aThe first thing to you want to do is create an “end” on your silver wire, similar to the Homemade Headpins Technique I’ve talked about before. You basically want to make a “nub” so that the crystal and balls do not fall off. You can actually use a “real” headpin for this, but since it is difficult to tell how long a headpin you will need (because of the zig zag of the wire) it may be better to just use the silver wire which can be an arbitrary length. It may waste a bit of wire, but it is better not to run out of room at the end when making your loop. I’ve used about 4 inches here, to be sure.

You can pretty much use whatever design you’d like here… it’s up to you! The article I read had a silver ball, a crystal, and then another silver ball for most of the dangles. I think if I was going to try make something like this I would use larger crystals and beads, and maybe use both diamond shaped crystals as well as rectangular ones for variety.
