Now what you want to do is take your chain nose pliers and bend the wire at approximately a 45 degree angle to the vertical, about 5-10 mm up from where that last ball is. Where exactly you bend it is up to you. You could probably bend it much higher up, leaving a longer length of straight wire below, or bend it nearly right at that last bead. In any case, make sure not to bend it TOO much, otherwise you won’t get that nice ziggy zag effect.
Next, take your chain nose pliers again and bend the wire back in the opposite direction, again at around a 45 degree angle. I actually believe that you may need to bend the wire greater than 45 degrees, maybe 60 or so in order to get a good zig zag wire effect. Then you just repeat the process going up the wire as many times as you’d like.
In my case, I’ve done about 2 zigs and 2 zags for a total of 4 bends total. When bending the wire, you may periodically need to flatten out the bends so that they are all in the same X-Y plane. You can do this easily with the chain nose pliers. You can also “fix” bends that weren’t done to your liking, although it is a bit difficult to get them perfectly straight again. Also, you don’t want to bend and then straighten the wire too much because it will break of course due to stress.
