The other day I got a chance to pick up a double pack of Ocean Spray’s Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice at CostCo. While most people are probably familiar with their Cranberry Juice blends, the company also makes a host of other juices including this Ruby™ Red juice, Ruby™ Tangerine juice, White Cranberry Juice as well as Craisins® (dried cranberries).

Each bottle was a hefty 96 fluid ounces and cost around $2.50 which is a decent deal for these juice mixers. The bottle actually has an interesting shape… the top has staggered ridges almost like a Christmas tree that make it easier to hold and pour with (very nice, since the bottle is quite heavy when full).

The first thing you notice about the juice is the color which is quite vibrant ruby red… I believe they also make a Pink Grapefruit one. However, it’s important to keep in mind that this juice, like most others of its kind, has added artificial coloring in order to make it that perfect red-pink color.

As far as taste goes, if you haven’t enjoyed grapefruit juice before because you’ve been turned off by the bitterness that comes from the pith and cell walls you are in for a treat. Because this is a mixer and not pure juice (it contains 30% real juice, and should not be confused with their Premium 100% Grapefruit Juice offering) the taste is much more mild. It still has that pleasant tart bite to it, but goes down much easier.

For dedicated juice fanatics, you might want to try the Premium variety, but if you’re just looking for a quick pick-me-up or a mixer for drinks then you’ll probably want to try this out. Of course, a nice bonus is that 100% daily Vitamin C fulfillment per serving.
