Some people might think this juicing recipe is a little weird for featuring potatoes, but they are actually really good sources of complex carbohydrates and mix well w/ other ingredients because of their mild taste. Please note that you want to leave the skins on when juicing them because that’s where the majority of good nutrients are located.

Ingredients:

4 medium Potatoes (skins on OK)
4 medium Carrots
1 stalk of Broccoli
6 Brussel Sprouts
1 Cucumber (peeled)

Directions:

Cut up the potatoes into chunks and feed them into the juicer. Next juice the carrots. You can save the pulp from both of these for other uses. Now juice the Broccoli, Brussel Sprouts and then the Cucumber. Stir together the entire mix for a delicious potato-based veggie drink.

Makes 3-4 cups juice

I am 35 years old and have Cystic Fibrosis -I read in one of my juicing books that potato juice is good for the lungs -so I always add a small potato to whatever vegetable I am juicing. Daily -I juice about two and a half pounds of carrots, one head of broccoli including the stalk, two medium apples and a small potato. This creates about 32 ounces of juice. I make this every morning and often one or more time in the afternoon/evening. I had a double lung transplant about thirteen weeks ago -I have been juicing regularly since -I swear my marked recovery is due, in part, to the fresh vegetable juice I drink daily.

Is this good for the liver? I have Hep C, which I contracted about 15 years ago and I heard that drinking potato juice is a good source for liver’s health. Does anyone have other suggestions?

    Thanks

Whereas fresh fruit and vegetable juices are great for your health, I’m surprised to learn of the potato twist in the recipe. Thanks for that.
