For those of us who aren’t able to manage to make fresh squeezed orange juice on a regular basis, there’s always supermarket orange juice to try! Orange juice can be a problem because unlike other juices, a lot of people drink it every day, and sometimes more than once a day! So it tends to go faster than other types of juice.
This variety of Tropicana Orange Juice actually has 1/2 the calories of normal orange juice, along with being lower in sugar and having the usual Vitamin C that you’d expect. The taste of the orange juice is not as “sweet” as some other varieties of supermarket orange juice and it has a nice orangey flavor. It definitely beats any “frozen concentrate” juice hands down.
The only downside can be the price (although all real juice is more expensive nowadays). Sometimes it’s best to wait until it goes on sale, and remember to use your supermarket saver card to get the best deals!
Juicing Basics Rating: 5 out of 10
Approximate Price: $2.50

We too are very disappointed that local grocery stores, including Walmart, are no longer carrying the Tropicana Light Orange Juice. My husband has been drinking 3 cartons/week for sometime. Since Christmas we have not been able to find it.
People seem to be buying it, as it is always in short supply.
The “calcium” and “low acid” are still available - but where is the “light”??

Margaret - Yeah, this is strange because I though I saw Tropicana Light on the shelf a few weeks ago. There was only like 2 cartons though. I’ll have to look again next time I go. It IS very peculiar how juice companies just stop making certain varieties out of the blue for no reason.

low carb orange juice is just a phase as was the low carb diets. we all know how dr. atkins ended up. in all honesty more people should be educating themselves by taking a nutrition class or 2 and they’ll realize how foolish it is to support such an unwholesome watered down product. the citrus industry was against this product form the get-go! it’s no wonder why it didn’t last. there is no such thing as a quick fix and people should not waste their time believing in them. the percievd quick fixes only promote unhealthy eating by allowing people to think that they can consume more of that particular product because it is lower in calories. by following the nutrition guidelines, anyone can be guaranteed to eat healthy. my advice is to stick to the real thing and supplement your diet with 8 glasses of water a day. and anyone who drinks 3 cartons of orange juice a week needs to seriously step back and re-evaluate their diet!!

My grocery stores (including Wal-Mart) are selling Tropicana Light Orange Juice. In fact, I drank some this morning..so surely it’s not ‘out of production’.

Hey - Look at the ingredients list. Instead of OJ, the #1 ingredient is plain old water. So…they take water (about 50%), add some orange juice, PLUS Splendita (questionable health effects) so it doesn’t taste as watered down, but also doesnt boost the carbs, and call it “lite”. This is a joke, if you want this product, make it yourself with water, real OJ, and some sugar if you want.

My bestfriend is a diabetic and loves OJ but could not intake the sugar in regular OJ. Then I told her about Tropicana essentials light and healthy with 1/2 the sugar and calories plus it has Calcium for her as well. Thankyou Trpoicana for thinking about those who we tend to forget about.

Please just because normal people can eat regular things, doesnt mean we all can. I have been to a dietician and learned the correct and proper way to eat. I have diabetes, I have to watch calories and carb intake, I agree there are some things out their that seem to be healthier, etc because of all the health fab diets going on. But this juice really does taste good, and I have tried to add water to regular juice and it just not taste as good as this.
Diabetics are generally limited to quantities of most things they can eat, so anything helps.
It really burns my hide for people to knock down everything they see, if you don’t like it dont drink it, but don’t put down the people for at least trying to eat a little healthier. jeeesh
