Hemlines Mix and Match Stationery • 2/23/06
These Mix and Match Stationery sets sure seem to catch the eye. Having previously featured both the Sushi-nery and Dots-n-Jots packages before, I thought we might as well continue the trend with this adorable set of sheets and envelopes that features retro sewing patterns.
Remember those old Simplicity sewing patterns for clothes that mom used to have lying around? Well, this set of Hemlines Mix and Match Stationery brings back a lot of those memories with old school style, 1950-60s line drawings of clothes and models wearing them. The set is by Kickstand Productions, and once again is published by Chronicle Books.
The paper is about 7.5″ x 5″ in dimensions and there are 16 pages with matching envelopes. What is sort of nice is that they also include little stickers in the shape of various sewing accessories such as buttons and zippers. As usual, the retro sewing designs featured in the set are completely wonderful but the actual quality of the paper leaves something to be desired for picky paper buyers. The sheets are very thin in quality, so that heavy inks will definitely bleed through the paper to the other side. Still, they aren’t too bad for light letter writing using pencil or thin ballpoint pens.
