Sometimes it’s true what they say - the simplest things are the best. I’ve been sort of looking for some solution to keeping track of all those unwieldy holiday and birthday gift wrapping rolls that seem to collect in our closet. There are any number of newfangled gadgets for storing them - but this simple vertical plastic container from Rubbermaid seems like it’ll do the trick.

At 33 inches long and 17 x 10 in girth, it seems like it will hold most rolls of wrapping paper - they say it holds up to 20 rolls. The removable lid also provides a place to store scissors, tabe and ribbons. The plastic looks well constructed and resistants to normal cracking.

Ok, one last post before I go into hibernation till the new year. I’ve been looking for some sort of way to organize gift wrap other than just chucking it into a paper bag. This rollable Gift Wrap Station seems to be on the right track, although you might be able to actually make something like this yourself. It’s basically a big flat piece of fabric that has compartments and pockets that you roll up, kind of like a knitting needle storage cozy.

I stumbled across a company that provides a pretty fun and unique alternative to traditional giftwrapping paper. South River Trading Company
, a family owned business in Virginia for over 25 years, came up with the idea for gift wrap that you can customize with your OWN images over the internet and then order it directly from them.

This seems like a kind of fun idea to spice up your boring birthday and holiday wrapping paper. There is a step-by-step process on their website which involves first selecting one of over 100 basic wrapping paper templates that have blank spaces for the photos you are going to upload. Then you go ahead an upload the photos that you want to appear on your custom giftwrap paper.

They also let you do cropping of the photo so that the exact portion of the photo that you want will appear on the giftwrap. Then you just preview it to make sure it’s all ok and then order it right then and there!

Here’s some info from their about page on how the site came about:
