Back this past holiday season I received a 13W EasyFlex Craft Lamp from Ott-Lite. Needless to say, I’d been eyeing all of the Ott-Lite products for quite awhile but didn’t get one because it seems a bit pricey as far as lamps go.

But recently, I saw that Joann.com is having a sale exclusively on their entire stock of Ott-Lites. All of the lamps are 30% off which doesn’t seem like a lot, but it actually is when you consider that the
OTT-LITE 13W Flexible Craft/Table Lamp
usually goes for $70 or so.

In addition, they are running some sort of deal where if you buy two or more lamps you can get an ADDITIONAL 15% off. That’s pretty darn good, and it might be reason enough to team up with a crafty friend and get one each to activate that 15% savings.

I saw this interesting product in the Paper Scrapbooking section of Joann.com. This is actually a portable mini-printer from Xyron that lets you print on virtually anything you’d like. The description said it would print on rough and uneven surfaces like wood, tissue paper, some fabrics and even on ribbon and metal.

The full name of the product is the Xyron Design Runner Personal Papercrafting Printer. It takes 2 nine volt batteries and requires special ink cartridges to print. I think it might have been nice to have an optional AC outlet plug since I’m not a big fan of buying batteries repeatedly. It says that the ink cartridge should last for 5000 embellishments printed. When not using the device, you’re supposed to place it in its supplied dock in order to prevent the ink from drying out.

I believe that it comes with one starter disc that has 40 design embellishments. You basically just select the design you want printed and then just swipe along the area that is going to be printed. The fact that you can print on things without having to run them through a usual stationary printer with rollers (that would probably jam on uneven surfaces) is a huge plus.

It’s early January, the start of the new year. A time when all thoughts turn to… organizing??

For those of you who do a lot of paper cutting, a good paper trimmer can be a lifesaver. While some may remember paper cutters from elementary school as being these immense, antiquated “blade handles” stuck to a heavy block of metal (I believe these are called “guillotine” paper cutters), most know that the craft paper trimmers today are much lighter and easier to use.

The Fiskars 12 Inch Rotary Paper Trimmer is a pretty handy device to have around when you need to make those straight line cuts for normal paper. I don’t have the exact same model, but one that’s very similar. You pivot the guide rail arm and insert paper. The blade in the arm is actually a “rotary” blade (like the blade on a manual can opener) that is attached to a spring so that it only comes down when it is pressed down. That’s a nice touch… safety first and all!
