4/27/05 | 1:04 am | Sad Texan

I know, I know. I just got through talking about the clue schedule being in the morning blah blah, but I just had to post this clue up because it made my day (or rather, night). It’s an honest to goodness “emoticon” found by Johnny K. while surfing around google maps. Very large at 12/15, and I have a feeling that once again people who live near the area will get it right away. Yeah we’re in Texas again. Just can’t seem to get away from the Lone Star. Well, Texas never whispers (inside joke).

As to the word clues… hmm. There weren’t any provided with this submission. It’s fast becoming the most difficult part of Scavengeroogle for me to figure out word clues that are fun yet difficult, but not TOO difficult. Let’s go with “White House”, and if that’s too hard I’ll add another word clue or two later that may help. I actually am pretty sure I know what this sad face building really is… but someone from the area can probably tell us more.

[Edit: A little nudge, as promised… “White House” in a different language may help you out.]

4/23/05 | 9:49 am | Minnesotan Pie

click to search using Google MapsThis was a sort of fun looking feature. I’m not sure if it’s manmade or not. It’s … Minnesotan Pie! Hehe, I mean Minnesotan Pi. Yeah I’m a nerd. The magnification needed to solve this is pretty easy at 11/15 and maybe even less.

Anyhow, this word clue should be obscure enough, but then you never know. This will be pretty easy if you know what lines I’m thinking along. Well, who knows - you can probably find the darn thing without even using the word clue…

[Edit: Damn, I guess no one here really listens to indie music? OK, to move things along a bit… Chair Kick is actually “chairkickers” which refers to the band Low who live in/near… ? That’s all thee extra help ye get though… I will post up the solution by tonight regardless.]

4/22/05 | 3:56 pm | Keep Your Forests Green!

click to search using Google MapsOk, here’s one more clue to tide you over till later in the weekend. Another reader submitted clue, and I really liked this one which is why I decided to put it up right away. It reads “Keep Your Forests Green”. Please note: I have no idea if this has already been found on any of the other numerous google maps catalog pages, so there’s a chance you may already know the answer if you read those web pages. I hadn’t seen this one before though.

Another stab at non-specific geography for the word clue, this is Jeremy’s exact text. “Damn Northwest”. Ready, set, go…

4/19/05 | 3:54 pm | Unicom 1230

click to search using Google MapsFirst clue with actual writing on it. It’s a bit hard to see but it says “Unicom 1230″ I’m crossing my fingers that it’s obscure enough looking that people won’t have found it already. I believe it’s actually easier to find than the 6/10 difficulty listed, but I thought I’d give it a higher rating because it can only be seen at maximum magnification of 15/15 on the satellite maps. I’m still trying to get the hang of how hard it is to actually find these clues so bear with me regarding the Difficulty ratings.
